Latest updates (January 2026)
- Roku: Eden Films is now available. Install via https://my.roku.com/account/add?channel=Q2NZ5DD (recommended) or search “Eden Films” in the Roku Channel Store. Latest version: 1.1.4 (Settings → About).
- Fire TV: Fixed an issue in an older version that prevented some people from accepting the user agreement. The fixed version is 1.0.10 or newer (check in the app’s Settings).
- Android: Updated the Android app to fix the “Failed resolution of: java/time/Instant” error on older Android devices. Update Eden Films in Google Play to get the fix.
- Chromecast: Casting issues some users saw were fixed in our backend (no Android app update required). If casting still fails, email support with your device details.
- Passwords: To keep anyone from having to wait for an admin reset, we’ve updated all remaining temporary passwords to permanent ones (same password; you won’t be prompted to change it on sign‑in). If you already set your own permanent password, nothing changed.
- Password reset: If you previously didn’t receive the email with the code to reset your password after you pressed the 'Forgot your password?' link on the login page, this has been fixed. Feel free to try again.
iPhone/iPad (iOS) app status
The iOS app isn’t available yet. We’re working with our playback‑protection (DRM) partner to resolve an issue that’s preventing the iOS release. After it’s resolved, we’ll update the iOS app and submit it to the Apple App Store. We don’t have a timeline to share yet, but getting the iOS app released is a top priority.
Please don’t share images or clips yet
Please do NOT take screen grabs or post any images or clips from the film before its public release, as this can make distribution deals fall through.
Watch in a browser (web app)
- Open https://player.sarahmeden.com in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on a computer.
- Sign in with the email you used on Kickstarter, then press Play.
- Captions: click the CC button. If you see “already playing on another device,” pick Take over.
- Safari isn’t supported—please switch to Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.
Install the app on your device
Digital download/offline viewing is available on the Android app. Roku and Fire TV are streaming-only.
Roku
- Recommended install: open https://my.roku.com/account/add?channel=Q2NZ5DD and press Add app. Make sure you are on the same Roku account on the website as you are on your Roku device.
- Alternate install: on the Roku remote, press Home → Search. Type Eden Films, choose the channel, and pick Add channel.
- If you already installed an earlier version: Roku usually updates apps automatically. To update immediately: highlight the Eden Films tile → press * (Options) → Check for updates.
- Latest Roku version: 1.1.4 (Eden Films → Settings → About).
Amazon Fire TV
Compatibility note: Eden Films works on Fire TV devices that use Fire OS. Some newer Fire TV devices use Vega OS — those devices can’t install the app (the Appstore will say “not compatible”), and there isn’t a reliable/safe workaround. Before you buy, look for “Fire OS” in the device’s specs. To check your device: Settings → My Fire TV → About (Fire OS = supported; Vega OS = not supported).
- From Fire TV Home, go to Find → Search and type Eden Films or Seeking Persephone.
- Select the app in Amazon Appstore, choose Get (or Download), and wait for it to install.
- Open it from Home or Your Apps & Channels.
- If you had trouble accepting the user agreement: the latest update fixes this (version 1.0.10 or newer; check in the app’s Settings page).
- Most Fire TVs update automatically. To update manually:
- Web: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GCLQ1XWX → press Deliver (make sure you are logged into the same Amazon account as your Fire TV).
- On device: Home → Your Apps & Channels → highlight Eden Films → menu (≡) → More Info → Update (only appears when an update is available).
Android (Google Play opt‑in link)
- Open the Android opt‑in link from your email (the app may not show up in Play Store search).
- Tap Join / Become a tester to join the closed test.
- Then install the app from that Play Store page.
Sign in and watch
Roku
- Open the app and select Sign In.
- Use the email you used on Kickstarter (reset the password if prompted).
- Tip: If typing your email/password with the Roku remote is tedious, install the Roku mobile app on your iPhone or Android phone (on the same Wi‑Fi as your Roku). It’s often easier to type — or copy/paste — your email and password using your phone’s keyboard.
- Select Seeking Persephone and press Play.
- Playback controls: use the remote’s Play/Pause, Rewind, and Fast Forward buttons (not the center/OK button).
- Captions: while playing, press * (Options) and turn Closed Captions On/Off.
Amazon Fire TV
- Open the app and select Sign In.
- Use the email you used on Kickstarter (reset the password if prompted).
- Select Seeking Persephone and press Play.
- Captions: use the CC/subtitles option in the player.
Android
- Open the app, tap Sign In with your Kickstarter email.
- Tap Play. Captions via the CC button.
- To cast: tap the Cast icon, choose your Chromecast/Google TV, then play.
Tips for a smooth stream
- Use the exact Kickstarter email; tell us if it changed.
- Restart your Wi‑Fi and device if video stalls.
- Turn off VPNs; some block DRM.
- If the store shows an update, install it before signing in again.
- Use one device at a time to avoid token errors.
Common issues
- Can’t sign in: recheck the email; reset the password if prompted; then email support.
- Temporary password / forced change prompt: To keep anyone from having to wait for an admin reset, we’ve updated all remaining temporary passwords to permanent ones (same password; you won’t be prompted to change it on sign‑in). If you already set your own permanent password, nothing changed.
- “Forgot your password?” email never arrives: If you previously didn’t receive the email with the code to reset your password after you pressed the 'Forgot your password?' link on the login page, this has been fixed. Feel free to try again and check spam/junk. If it still doesn’t arrive, email support.
- Don’t see the film: sign out/in and confirm the store shows the latest update.
- Playback/DRM error: check internet, disable VPN, reopen the app, press Play again.
- No captions: while playing, open CC/Subtitles and pick English; if grayed out, pause and resume. On Roku, press * (Options) and check Closed Captions.
- Android “Failed resolution of: java/time/Instant”: update Eden Films in Google Play. If it still fails, email support with your device model + Android version.
- Cast fails: make sure your phone/tablet and TV device share the same Wi‑Fi, then retry. If it still fails, email support with your phone model + Chromecast/TV model.
- Safari: the web app needs Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on Windows/macOS.
